Campaign Finance

About the data

We organize Florida campaign-finance filings so you can see who gives, who receives, and what the reported totals include.

Sources & totals

Our records come from campaign-finance filings and exports published by the Florida Division of Elections and local election authorities. We organize the different formats into searchable profiles and retain the original sources so the numbers can be checked.

People and political committees have separate profiles. A committee’s fundraising does not automatically become a person’s total. People without a linked legislative profile are included too.

Contributor groups

Florida reports contributor names and occupations. We use those fields to assign the four groups shown in the funding bars. These labels are our classification.

Individuals
People giving their own money, including the candidate’s family. Names are shortened to initials in public views.
Companies
Businesses, unions, trade associations and nonprofits giving directly rather than through a PAC.
Committees & PACs
Political committees, party committees, electioneering organizations and other campaigns, including committees tied to the candidate.
Self-funded / other
The candidate’s own contributions and loans, money carried forward from earlier campaigns, and rows with no contributor name.
How we assign the groups

A name or occupation containing terms such as “LLC,” “PAC” or “Political committee,” or matching a committee we track, identifies a company or committee. Everyone else is counted as an individual.

We match a candidate’s own money on their first and last name. Relatives who share only a last name remain individuals. Name rules can make mistakes; we review the likeliest ones after each refresh.

Report a classification error

Why the bar can differ from the total: the bar includes contributions and the candidate’s own loans. It excludes refunds, interest, bank loans and adjustments, which are included in “total raised.”

Privacy & updates

Public views mask individual contributor details. Unredacted CSVs are kept private and are not offered as public downloads.

Each profile shows when its source was checked and the date range covered by the records. Use those dates to judge how current a profile is.
